Virgin Australia Launches Non-Stop Perth to Doha Flights

Virgin Australia Launches Non-Stop Perth to Doha Flights, Expanding Global Access

New route offers Aussies one-stop connections to 170+ destinations through Qatar Airways’ award-winning network

Virgin Australia launched its inaugural Perth to Doha service end June, opening up seamless access to over 170 destinations. The route connects through Qatar Airways’ global hub at Hamad International Airport, offering a one-stop journey to six continents.

This new service strengthens Virgin Australia’s growing partnership with Qatar Airways. It follows successful launches from Sydney and Brisbane, with Melbourne to join in December.

World-Class Inflight Experience

Passengers fly on Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777 featuring the award-winning Qsuite Business Class.

Economy passengers enjoy generous seating and complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi.

The new route is expected to generate over $3 billion for the Australian economy in five years. It will also create hundreds of jobs across aviation, hospitality, and tourism sectors.

More Seats, More Choice

By December 2025, the alliance will offer 2.65 million annual seats between Australia and Doha. This boost increases competition and gives Aussies better value and more travel options.

The inaugural VA21 flight departed Perth at 3:45pm on Thursday, 26 June completing the rollout of Virgin’s first three Qatar-bound routes.

Melbourne’s service will launch next, continuing the network’s rapid expansion.

Velocity Members Reap Rewards

Velocity Frequent Flyer members gain benefits on Qatar Airways flights, enhancing loyalty value for international travelers. The partnership brings new perks and a seamless travel experience across both airlines.

“This is a new era for Virgin Australia,” said CEO Dave Emerson. “We’re connecting Australians to the world, while supporting jobs and economic growth.

Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer called the launch “a milestone in our shared vision for global excellence.” He highlighted months of preparation and a shared commitment to delivering world-class service.
