United Launches Smart App to Simplify Connections

United Airlines Launches Smart App Features to Simplify Flight Connections

Making Tight Connections Easier

United’s mobile app now offers personalised gate directions, estimated walk times, and real-time connection updates at U.S. hub airports.

The new features help travelers find gates quickly and reduce stress during tight layovers. Customers get alerts if their next flight is being held using United’s ConnectionSaver technology.

ConnectionSaver Tech Goes Public

Previously a backend system, ConnectionSaver now directly updates travelers through the app. It identifies flights that can be briefly held without delaying other passengers. This move gives customers more control and visibility over their connecting flights.

More Than 350,000 Tested the App

United beta-tested the features with over 350,000 users this spring. The result: 98% successfully made their connecting flights. With 20 million customers booking connections this summer, demand is high.

Whether your layover is long or short, the app adjusts to your journey. For longer waits, it offers layover tips and lounge suggestions. For tight connections, it shows walking times, gate info, and urgent alerts.

Missed a flight? The app offers rebooking and standby options automatically.

More Languages and Location Support Coming

United will add more languages and location-based navigation later this year. Text message updates for connecting flight details are also in the works. Travellers can opt in for real-time alerts about flight delays or rebooking options.

Smarter Travel from Start to Finish

United leads with innovations like Starlink Wi-Fi, weather delay updates, and enhanced baggage tracking. The app supports Apple’s AirTag integration, making it easier to track lost bags.

Automatic rebooking tools mean fewer lines, faster solutions, and happier passengers.

With these upgrades, United is turning stress-filled connections into smoother, smarter journeys.

More transparency. More support. All in the palm of your hand.
