Ryanair Delays 100% Paperless Boarding Passes to 2025

Ryanair has delayed its move to 100% paperless boarding passes. The transition will now begin in November 2025. Originally planned for May, this change will start at the beginning of the winter schedule on November 3. Passengers will have extra time to adjust to the new system.

Transitioning to Digital Boarding Passes

Ryanair’s goal is to eliminate paper boarding passes entirely. About 80% of passengers already use the digital boarding pass. Starting in November 2025, all passengers will need to use the myRyanair app for boarding passes. This change will reduce the airline’s paper waste by over 300 tonnes each year. Passengers without smartphones can either ask someone else to download the pass or visit the check-in desk for assistance.

Benefits of Going Paperless

The paperless transition will be more eco-friendly and efficient. Passengers will also enjoy real-time flight updates through the app. They will receive live notifications about gate changes, delays, and alternative flights during disruptions. This system ensures passengers have up-to-date information, especially in case of issues.

New Features to Enhance Customer Experience

Ryanair has added a new “Order to Seat” feature. This allows passengers to order food from their seat and be served first. It enhances convenience and makes flights more enjoyable. With this change, Ryanair continues to grow and improve the customer experience. The airline aims to reach 300 million passengers within the next decade.
