Rome Introduces Trevi Fountain Entry Fee and New Museum Charges From February
Trevi Fountain Access Rules Change
From February 1, visitors must pay a €2 entry fee to access Rome’s Trevi Fountain basin. The fee applies daily between 09:00 and 22:00, aiming to manage crowds and protect the landmark.
Visitors can buy tickets at SmartPOS stations, online, museums offices, tourist information points, or approved vendors.
More Paid Entry at Rome Museums
Rome will also introduce entry fees at five previously free museums and monuments.
These include Museo Carlo Bilotti, Museo Barracco, Museo Pietro Canonica, Museo Napoleonico, and Villa di Massenzio. City officials say the changes support conservation efforts and improve visitor flow across historic sites.
What Travellers Should Know
The new fees form part of Rome’s broader tourism management strategy. Travellers should budget small additional costs when planning sightseeing itineraries.
Advance ticket purchases may help avoid queues during peak visiting hours.
