Qatar Airways has announced the relaunch of its daily flights to Canberra, Australia’s capital city, beginning December 2025. The flights will connect Canberra Airport (CBR) to Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) via Melbourne (MEL).
The service, operated by Boeing 777 aircraft, will feature the airline’s luxurious Qsuite Business Class cabin and complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi for all passengers. This marks the airline’s return to Canberra after suspending operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer expressed enthusiasm for the route’s revival:
“We are delighted to serve Canberra once again. This relaunch reflects our commitment to Australia’s capital, providing greater choice and healthy competition for travelers.”
A Boost for Tourism and Connectivity
Canberra Airport CEO Stephen Byron hailed the move as a pivotal moment:
“This service connects over a million residents to Qatar Airways’ global network spanning 170 destinations. It also invites the world to rediscover Canberra’s cultural, educational, and tourism offerings.”
ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr added, “This is a timely boost to our local tourism industry. Improved aviation access is the biggest driver of growth, and this service strengthens our global connectivity.”
Qatar Airways originally launched flights to Canberra in 2018. The relaunch reaffirms its commitment to the Australian market, promising competitive pricing, enhanced travel options, and seamless global connections for leisure and business travelers alike.
