Qatar Airways Launches World’s First Starlink-Equipped Boeing 787, Completes Airbus A350 Rollout
A Global First for Boeing 787 Connectivity
Qatar Airways became the world’s first airline to install Starlink on Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Three Dreamliners already operate with Starlink, delivering ultra-fast, gate-to-gate Wi-Fi.
The airline also secured the world’s first Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8.
Airbus A350 Fleet Fully Equipped in Record Time
Qatar Airways completed the first-ever Airbus A350 Starlink installation programme in aviation history. The airline finished the entire A350 rollout in just eight months, ending December 2025.
This achievement reinforces Qatar Airways’ role as the A350 global launch customer.
Nearly 120 Widebody Aircraft Now Starlink-Connected
Almost 120 widebody aircraft now feature Starlink across Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s, and Boeing 787s. More than 58 percent of the widebody fleet offers Wi-Fi speeds reaching up to 500 Mbps.
Passengers can stream, video call, and work in real time, often faster than home broadband.
Over 11 Million Passengers Already Connected
More than 11 million Qatar Airways passengers have enjoyed free Starlink Wi-Fi since October 2024. Qatar Airways accounts for nearly half of all Starlink-connected passengers worldwide in 2025.
The service now covers routes across six continents, including long and ultra-long-haul flights.
Starlink Transforms Operations and Crew Connectivity
Starlink delivers instant flight updates directly to crew devices during operations. Cabin crew coordinate with ground teams in real time during medical or service situations. Engineers monitor inflight systems mid-air, improving recovery planning and turnaround efficiency.
Qatar Airways continues leading global aviation connectivity with the world’s largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet.
