Qatar Airways has revised its plans for increasing flights to the United States during the Northern Summer 2025 season. Despite operating over 100 weekly flights to 11 US destinations, the Doha-based airline has scaled back previously announced frequency increases to Los Angeles and New York.
Changes to Summer 2025 Services
The airline originally planned to:
- Expand Doha-Los Angeles services from seven to ten weekly flights between March 30 and October 25, 2025, with an even greater increase to 14 flights per week during June 30 to August 31.
- Add more flights on the Doha-New York (JFK) route, increasing from 18 to 21 weekly between May 31 and September 29, 2025.
However, these expansions were revised in December 2024, and the additional services have been canceled. Los Angeles will retain its daily service, while New York will continue with 19 weekly flights operated by a mix of Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A350-900, and A350-1000 aircraft.
The Doha-Boston route, which had offered up to 10 weekly flights in 2024, will operate seven flights per week during the 2025 summer season.
Qatar Airways’ Current US Network
Qatar Airways began flights to the US in 2007 with routes to Newark via Geneva and to Washington, D.C. Today, the airline connects its hub at Hamad International Airport to 11 US cities, operating over 100 weekly flights.
Key routes include:
- New York-JFK: 19 weekly flights.
- Dallas Fort Worth (DFW): 14 weekly flights.
- Miami (MIA): 12 weekly flights.
- Washington-Dulles (IAD): 10 weekly flights.
Daily flights are also operated to Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. Looking ahead, mid-August 2025 schedules indicate plans to increase services to Washington-Dulles to 14 weekly flights, while Miami will reduce to 10 weekly.
Expanding in North America
In December 2024, Qatar Airways introduced a second Canadian destination, Toronto, with three weekly Boeing 777-300ER flights. This addition complements the airline’s Montreal service and replaces a codeshare arrangement with Air Canada.
Resumption of Damascus Flights
In January 2025, Qatar Airways will resume flights to Damascus, Syria, after a 13-year suspension. The route, operated three times per week on Airbus A330-200 aircraft, marks an expansion of the airline’s Middle East network and makes Damascus its 180th global destination.
A Global Network
Qatar Airways operates flights to 180 destinations in 84 countries. Its network includes:
- 52 airports in Asia
- 47 in Europe
- 31 in the Middle East
- 29 in Africa
- 14 in the Americas
- 7 in Australasia
India, with 13 destinations, is the most extensively served country, followed by Saudi Arabia and the US, which each have 11 airports in the network.
