Qantas Expands Nonstop Perth–Rome Flights

Qantas Expands Nonstop Perth–Rome Flights with Longer Season and More Services in 2026

Longer Season and Extra Capacity for European Travellers

Qantas will almost double its Perth–Rome capacity in 2026 by extending its seasonal flights and adding an additional weekly service. The extended season will operate from 3 May to 23 October, covering northern summer and offering Australians greater choice when travelling abroad.

Peak-season flights will increase from three to four weekly services, adding forty extra flights and nearly 10,000 additional available seats.

Nonstop Flights Connecting Australia and Europe Since 2022

Qantas pioneered the first nonstop service between Australia and continental Europe in 2022, linking Perth directly to Rome with historic significance. Since launch, over 70,000 passengers have flown the Perth–Rome route, benefiting from convenience, efficiency, and seamless European connections across the continent.

From Perth, Qantas also flies to London, Paris, Rome and Singapore, with Johannesburg and Auckland services starting December 2025.

Strong Support from Western Australia and Tourism Leaders

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace highlighted “Nonstop Rome flights’ popularity, emphasising customer satisfaction, connectivity, and their transformative role for Western Australia.”

WA Premier Roger Cook praised “The flights’ economic impact, noting Rome’s success reinforced Perth’s status as Australia’s primary European gateway.”

Tourism Minister Reece Whitby confirmed “The expanded schedule would deliver thousands of additional visitors, supporting tourism growth and further diversifying Western Australia’s economy.”
