Qantas Continues to Monitor Flights To Europe

Qantas will continue to monitor alternative flight path options to Europe, following its cancellation of the long-haul Perth to London 787-9 Dreamliner itinerary, as concern continues around flying over the Middle East.

“We’re making adjustments to some of our flight paths due to the situation in parts of the Middle East as a precaution,” the national carrier said. “We’ll contact customers directly if there’s any change to their booking.”

The changes primarily impact QF9/10 (Perth-London) which is now operating via Singapore for a fuel stop which enables it to still carry a full load of customers and minimise disruption.

Qantas axed the Melbourne-Perth leg of QF9 to London in July.

The return flights from London to Perth will operate direct, due to prevailing winds.

“We’re continuing to monitor the situation with a range of alternative flight path options available for our services to Europe,” the airline said.

The outbound flights will operate with new flight numbers (QF9 is operated as QF209) due to the adjusted flight path.

QF33/34 (Perth-Paris) and QF5/6 (Perth-Rome) will continue to operate direct in both directions. Qantas’ other flights to and from London (QF1/2) are not affected as they use different flight paths.
