More overtourism protests are likely on the Balearic Islands this summer.
Protestors took to the streets in Mallorca last week and are threatening a summer blockade of Palma Airport.
About 10,000 people protested in central Palma last weekend.
“This has only just begun,” said Javier Barbero of the group Banc del Temps which wants a moratorium on foreigners buying local properties.
“If measures aren’t taken, we will continue taking to the streets until we see action.”
The group is warning it may block access to the airport terminal and demonstrate outside hotels this summer.
Balearic Tourism Minister Jaume Bauzá has urged restraint.
“Collapsing Son Sant Joan (airport) has no place in society. Protests must be peaceful and without endangering people’s safety.”
