US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is testing a new app for Global Entry members at seven US airports. The hope is that clearance will be faster by skipping the kiosks altogether.
Global Entry members will use the app to take a selfie. The photo will then be compared to what’s on file using facial biometrics. Once cleared, a receipt will be available on a user’s phone to show to an officer for entry into the US. CBP is looking to roll the service out across the US, but initially it will be available at:
- George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
- Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
- Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

The app is available for both iPhone and Android devices. There are more than 12 million Global Entry members and this app will hopefully speed up and already efficient process.
