Meridian° and SeaKeepers International Society hosts Crew & Captain “Under the Sea” themed costume party

Raising awareness for ocean conservation and winning prizes in a costume contest will be included in this crew and captain appreciation event.

Meridian° and SeaKeepers International Society are teaming up to host a Crew & Captain “Under the Sea” themed costume party to raise awareness for ocean conservation within the yachting industry

The party will be on Friday, November 4, from 7pm – 11pm at Tarpon River Brewing Company, located at 280 SW Sixth St.

Aside from raising awareness for ocean conservation, the party also wants to celebrate crew and captains for all the work they did during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

“We want to make sure we really hone in on all the crew that are working really hard during the show and celebrate them for it,” said Sandra Murphy, Meridian’s marketing manager.

Meat ‘N Bone, an online butcher shop that provides provisions for yachts, will provide food for the event. Unfiltered Hospitality, a hospitality development company looking to improve experiences in the beverage industry, will be providing drinks. Yacht Chef Tyrone Hardie will DJ the event.

Crew and captains are invited to dress up in upcycled fish, mermaid, or sea creature themed costumes. The best recycled costumes will win prizes including a signed hockey puck and gear from The Florida Panthers, travel vouchers from Blue Marine Travel, a Yeti cooler filled with swag from Mason Marine, and a gift voucher for Bravo x Romeo.

“We’re trying to encourage crew to use items that they might already have onboard the vessel and get really creative and come dresses as some sort of sea creature”, Murphy said.

SeaKeepers will have a station at the event for anyone interested in learning how they can help ocean conservation. Meridian° will also have a station, where they plan to speak about their new Meridian° Recruiter Cloud platform that they are launching.

“There’s nothing else like this in the yachting industry,” Murphy said. “It will help employers get candidates faster than ever.”
