LATAM Expands Melbourne–Santiago Flights to Daily Service

The South American carrier strengthens Australia–Chile connectivity with daily flights, enhanced capacity, and seamless onward links across Latin America.

LATAM Airlines Group will operate daily nonstop flights between Melbourne and Santiago from 1 December 2025 through March 2026. The service increases from three flights weekly to daily, reflecting growing demand from Victorian travellers for South American destinations.

LATAM will also launch Melbourne–Sydney flights five times weekly starting 1 April 2026, further improving domestic connectivity. Since 2017, LATAM has carried over 400,000 passengers between Melbourne and Santiago, underscoring strong and consistent market demand.

The enhanced schedule aligns with the southern summer, providing travellers more flexibility for both leisure and business travel.

Stronger Connections to South America

From its Santiago hub, LATAM offers smooth one-stop access to over 160 destinations across 27 countries throughout South America. Daily operations will add 1,800 seats weekly between Victoria and Chile, expanding capacity during the busy travel season.

Passengers can connect easily to major Latin American cities including Lima, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, and Bogotá. The route will continue using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering modern comfort, advanced cabin design, and long-haul efficiency.

LATAM’s onboard service features South American-inspired meals and premium wines, reflecting the region’s distinctive hospitality and culinary heritage.

Boost for Victoria’s Global Connectivity

Melbourne Airport will have a daily nonstop connection to South America for the first time in its 55-year history. The route supports growing two-way tourism, education, and trade between Victoria and South America’s largest economies.

Melbourne Airport expects further international growth, following a 9.7% year-on-year rise in international passengers this May. Increased services will also strengthen Victoria’s appeal to business and leisure travellers seeking direct access to South American markets.

LATAM’s expansion highlights strong confidence in Victoria’s global position and the state’s role as a key aviation hub.

Expanding Opportunities Across the Pacific

LATAM’s enhanced service connects Australians to Latin America’s diverse cultural, economic, and natural attractions in a single direct flight. Travellers benefit from smoother onward connections through Santiago, one of South America’s most efficient international hubs.

The expansion strengthens LATAM’s footprint in Oceania while boosting Melbourne’s international network and global reach. As demand for long-haul travel continues to rise, daily flights mark a significant milestone in Australia–South America aviation.
