LATAM Airlines Group has officially relaunched its Sydney to Santiago direct route, marking a new chapter in connectivity between Australia and South America. The inaugural flight, LA810, departed on October 28 at 12:35 p.m., fully booked with eager holidaymakers and business travelers. Departing passengers were treated to a festive send-off featuring live traditional South American music and alfajores, offering a taste of the vibrant culture awaiting them in Latin America.
Originally launched in 2019 but suspended during the pandemic, the Sydney-Santiago route now operates four times per week, transporting up to 1,200 passengers with flights departing Sydney on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The 12-hour, 45-minute journey arrives in Santiago at 11:20 a.m. local time the same day, enhancing accessibility for Australians keen to explore South America.
LATAM’s Country Manager for Oceania, Christopher Ellis, expressed enthusiasm about the relaunch, noting its role in fostering tourism and commerce. “We are pleased to provide Australia with the newest non-stop route between Sydney and Santiago, making it even easier for Australians to experience the rich culture, culinary delights, and landscapes that South America has to offer,” said Ellis.
From Santiago, LATAM passengers can connect to 144 destinations, including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Cuzco, Sao Paulo, Bogota, and Lima. The airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring advanced comfort and technology, offers travelers ergonomic Business Class seats that recline fully, NASA-designed fabric for temperature control, and curated South American cuisine prepared by emerging female chefs, paired with wines selected by Hector Vergara, Latin America’s only Master Sommelier.
The return flights from Santiago depart at 1:40 a.m. local time, landing in Sydney at 6:30 a.m. the next day, ensuring convenience and comfort for passengers. This route complements LATAM’s Santiago-Melbourne service, which will increase to four flights per week in December, cementing LATAM’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between Australia and South America.
