New Premium Economy Seats Arrive in 2025
Korean Air is elevating the travel experience by introducing all-new premium economy seating on its long-haul fleet. The airline is retrofitting 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, replacing first-class cabins with spacious and comfortable premium economy recliners. These upgraded aircraft will enter service in late 2025, followed by further fleet modifications through 2026.
Chairman and CEO Walter Cho confirmed that each retrofitted 777-300ER will feature 20-25 premium economy seats, serving all long-haul routes. The airline’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 and Airbus A350 aircraft will also include this new cabin class.
Enhanced Business Class and First-Class Suites
Alongside premium economy, Korean Air is expanding its business class offering. The redesigned Prestige Suites 2.0 will replace first-class seating on the 777-300ER, providing an even more refined experience for business travelers. However, the airline’s future 777-9 aircraft, set to arrive in 2028, will introduce new private first-class suites, catering to ultra-premium travelers.
Luxury Lounge Upgrades in Seoul, Los Angeles, and New York
Korean Air is revamping its airport lounges to match its upgraded in-flight experience. Seoul Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 will see expanded and renovated lounges, including:
- Two new Prestige Class Garden Lounges in the east and west wings, opening in phases from August 2025.
- A larger Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing, doubling its current size.
- An expanded Miler Club Lounge to accommodate more travelers.
- A refreshed First Class and Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing, set to reopen in April 2026.
Once complete, Korean Air will operate six lounges at Incheon Airport, increasing lounge space by 2.5 times and doubling seating capacity. Travelers can expect elevated dining options, including live cooking stations, a bakery, noodle bars, and à la carte dining.
In addition to Incheon, the airline will renovate its lounges at Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK), bringing a five-star luxury hotel ambiance to its global lounge network.
A New Era for Korean Air
Korean Air’s latest upgrades align with its corporate rebranding and the ongoing integration of Asiana Airlines. With premium economy seating, expanded business class, and world-class lounges, the airline is reinventing its travel experience to meet growing passenger expectations.
Whether flying in prestige, premium economy, or business class, travelers can look forward to more space, comfort, and luxury in the years ahead.
