India Introduces the New e-Arrival Card for Foreign Travelers

India has begun introducing a new Electronic Arrival Card, replacing traditional paper disembarkation cards used at immigration counters nationwide.

This digital rollout represents another major step in India’s mission to modernise border entry procedures and enhance traveller convenience. During a six-month transition phase, both the paper and electronic versions remain valid for all inbound international passengers.

Travellers should complete the e-Arrival Card online before travel to enjoy faster immigration clearance and reduced airport congestion.

What Is the e-Arrival Card?

The e-Arrival Card is a digital form designed to streamline data collection for foreign nationals entering India. It captures essential information such as passport details, flight numbers, local contact address, and recent travel history.

Travellers can submit the form up to seventy-two hours before arrival using designated government travel or immigration portals. Upon completion, a confirmation receipt is generated for reference and presented to immigration officers upon entry.

Forms can be submitted through indianvisaonline.gov.in, boi.gov.in, or the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam mobile app.
