Hong Kong Airlines Returns to the Gold Coast with Nonstop Seasonal Flights

After a six-year hiatus, Hong Kong Airlines has resumed direct seasonal flights between Hong Kong and Australia’s Gold Coast, re-establishing a critical link just in time for the Chinese Lunar New Year. Operating four times weekly from 17 January to 15 February 2025, the route offers travelers seamless travel between these two vibrant destinations aboard an Airbus A330.

Departing Hong Kong, passengers will arrive at Gold Coast Airport in the morning, perfectly timed to explore Queensland’s renowned beaches, theme parks, and hinterland adventures. Similarly, the return flights provide an opportunity for Australian travelers to experience the festive charm of Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year, complete with its vibrant street markets, traditional celebrations, and world-class dining.

Yan Bo, Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines, emphasized the importance of the route:
“We are delighted to welcome passengers eager to explore Queensland’s warm climate and exciting tourist attractions. This route also offers Australians a chance to immerse in the vibrant atmosphere of Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year celebrations and enjoy authentic local cuisine.”

Enhancing Global Connectivity

The Gold Coast service is Hong Kong Airlines’ first long-haul route since its strategic return to the global market. With the airline progressively expanding its fleet, the route signals a broader ambition to reconnect Hong Kong with the world.

While the current focus is on the Gold Coast, Hong Kong Airlines is also exploring new destinations in Australia, North America, and beyond. Potential expansions include Los Angeles, Seattle, and Toronto, alongside a strengthened presence in Vancouver.

The return of this route signals renewed optimism for Hong Kong Airlines and the Gold Coast tourism sector. Acting Gold Coast Mayor, Donna Gates, hailed the flights as a significant milestone in the region’s recovery, while Experience Gold Coast CEO, John Warn, highlighted the potential for the service to solidify the city’s reputation as a leading destination for Chinese visitors.

For travelers seeking adventure, culture, or simply a new destination, the seasonal Hong Kong–Gold Coast route offers unparalleled convenience and opportunity. With four weekly flights, complimentary in-flight meals, and flexible baggage options, passengers are guaranteed a comfortable journey to their next great adventure.
