Frankfurt Airport has decided to add tens of new destinations worldwide and increase the seating capacity for 2023 summer flights.
According to Frankfurt Airport, when the summer flight schedule officially begins, a total of 86 airlines in the airport will serve 292 destinations in 92 countries around the world.
The number of available seatings will also increase as soon as the summer flight schedule begins. Frankfurt Airport will increase seating capacity by 16 per cent compared to the summed schedule of last year, reaching an average of 785,000 seats per week, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
“Total available seating will increase by 16 per cent compared to the summer schedule of 2022, reaching an average of 785,000 seats per week. Of these, intercontinental flights will account for roughly 289,000, recovering to 10 per cent below the level of 2019,” the statement of Frankfurt Airport reads.
The number of scheduled flights for the upcoming summer season will also increase at Frankfurt Airport. An average of 4,258 passenger flights will take off from Frankfurt Airport each week, representing an increase of 17 per cent compared to last year and a decrease of only 15 per cent compared to 2019.
Similar to the other seasons, North America will continue to remain the strongest intercontinental market in the upcoming summer season. Data show that the volume of flights from Frankfurt Airport to the US and Canada has already increased and surpassed the pre-pandemic levels by four per cent.
“The flight volume from FRA to the USA and Canada is climbing back to and even surpassing its pre-pandemic level, with about 370 connections more per week overall or roughly four per cent above the 2019 figure,” Frankfurt Airport highlighted.
In addition to the above-mentioned, Frankfurt Airport revealed that Lufthansa is adding five new European destinations from the airport for the summer season. Moreover, new are also ten flights per week to Skopje in North Macedonia, and Lufthansa will also launch a weekly service to Biarritz on France’s Atlantic Coast in April.
Singapore Airlines will also increase its connections to Singapore. For the first time, during the upcoming summer season, up to three daily flights will be operated by Singapore Airlines from Frankfurt Airport to its hub in Southeast Asia.
Lufthansa will also boost its seating capacity to Palma de Mallorca on four Sundays in April, whereas from mid-July to mid-August, South Korea’s Asiana will operate an Airbus A380 on three of its seven flights per week to Seoul.
The summer flight season lasts until October 29, 2023, and after that, new changes will be introduced again.
