Finnair has further strengthened its presence in the UK with an expanded codeshare agreement with British Airways, offering enhanced connectivity for travelers across the region. The expansion, which includes seven additional British Airways domestic routes, provides a seamless travel experience for customers flying from regional UK airports to Finland and beyond.
Effective immediately, Finnair will add its code to British Airways flights between London Heathrow and Aberdeen, Belfast City, Gibraltar, Inverness, Jersey, Manchester, and Newcastle. Passengers can now book these services, allowing them to fly from their chosen regional airport with British Airways before connecting to Finnair’s flights at Heathrow Airport.
This expanded partnership enables UK travelers to easily connect onto Finnair’s extensive network, which includes popular destinations in Finland, Lapland, the Nordics, the Baltics, and the Far East. Notable destinations include Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Singapore, and Seoul, providing passengers with an increased range of global options.
Anssi Partanen, Finnair’s Market Director for Europe, shared that there has been significant demand for flights from the UK to Helsinki and other Nordic and Baltic destinations. “Over the past few years, we have seen a growing demand for our flights to Helsinki and beyond from destinations across not only the UK but also the Channel Islands and Gibraltar,” he said. “Therefore, we are extremely excited to be expanding our codeshare with British Airways, to ensure customers traveling from across the country can enjoy seamless connectivity.”
The move follows Finnair’s recent expansion of its UK schedule, which includes a 50% increase in flights between London Heathrow and Helsinki. Finnair now offers six daily flights from Heathrow, double daily flights from Manchester, and up to seven weekly flights from Edinburgh to the Finnish capital. With this expanded codeshare, Finnair is well-positioned to offer a greater variety of travel options for passengers across the UK, Channel Islands, and Gibraltar, strengthening its position as a key airline connecting Europe with Finland and the Far East.
