Dubai Airport Unveils AI Immigration Corridor

Dubai Airport Unveils AI Immigration Corridor

A Faster, Smarter Airport Experience

Dubai International Airport unveiled an AI-powered immigration corridor, clearing eligible passengers in just 14 seconds without presenting documents.

The system, developed by the GDRFA, forms part of Dubai’s flagship “Unlimited Smart Travel” strategy, also known as the “Red Carpet.”

How the Corridor Works

Advanced biometric verification matches travellers against pre-registered government records before reaching checkpoints, significantly accelerating the clearance process. The system allows up to 10 passengers to pass simultaneously, greatly enhancing DXB’s capacity as the world’s busiest international airport.

When irregularities or suspicious behaviour are detected, AI systems flag them instantly for specialist forgery teams, maintaining strong security standards.

Passenger and Official Reactions

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri called the project a “quantum leap in smart travel,” highlighting Dubai’s automated future.

Passengers praised the innovation, with travellers from Syria and Canada citing faster journeys, less congestion, and improved overall airport experiences.

Eligibility and Global Context

Eligibility depends on nationality, visa status, and passport type, requiring some passengers to continue using traditional immigration counters at DXB. The initiative aligns with global border trends, contrasting Europe’s upcoming biometric Entry/Exit System with Dubai’s fully automated smart corridor rollout.
