Delta Airlines Expands in Australia with Nonstop Service to Melbourne

Delta Airlines is strengthening its presence in Australia and the South Pacific by launching a new nonstop route between Los Angeles (LAX) and Melbourne (MEL). This seasonal service will operate three times a week, beginning December 3, 2025, with the first departure from Melbourne scheduled for December 5.

This new route enhances connectivity between the U.S. West Coast and Melbourne, offering travelers access to Delta’s award-winning service aboard the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900.

Connecting Los Angeles and Melbourne with Convenient Flight Options

Flights from Los Angeles will depart at 9:25 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, arriving in Melbourne at 8:15 a.m. two days later. The return service will leave Melbourne at 10:25 a.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, landing in Los Angeles at 6:10 a.m. the same day.

By adding Melbourne to its network, Delta now serves three Australian cities—Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne—and expands its reach across the South Pacific to five destinations, including Auckland and Papeete. From Los Angeles, travelers can seamlessly connect to over 40 U.S. cities, such as New York, Boston, Seattle, and Atlanta.

Enhancing the Travel Experience at LAX

Delta continues to invest in its Los Angeles hub, ensuring a seamless journey for passengers. Delta One customers gain access to the exclusive Delta One Lounge, featuring premium dining, a wellness area, and personalised service. The airline’s $2.3 billion transformation of LAX includes the Sky Way at LAX and a modernised Terminal 3, offering an expanded security checkpoint and a world-class Delta Sky Club.

Travelers on the LAX-Melbourne route will fly aboard the Airbus A350-900, which features four cabin options:

  • Delta One Suites: Private, fully reclining seats with luxury bedding, chef-curated meals, and artisan amenity kits.
  • Delta Premium Select: Wider seats with enhanced recline, extra legroom, and an upgraded dining experience.
  • Delta Comfort+: More legroom and priority boarding for added convenience.
  • Main Cabin: Comfortable seating with complimentary in-flight entertainment.

All passengers can enjoy Delta Studio’s in-flight entertainment, which includes over 1,000 hours of complimentary content. Delta also continues to enhance its onboard dining experience with curated menu selections, specialty snacks, and a premium beverage selection.
