China drops Covid tests for inbound travellers

China is scrapping the requirement for a negative Covid test for inbound travellers.

The rule will end as of 30 August.

It marks the latest step in normalisation for inbound tourism.

The easing of rules was announced on Monday by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin.

China only ended quarantine measures earlier this year.

It had one of the strictest ‘zero-Covid policies since the start of the pandemic.

The country has also eased restrictions for outbound travel.

Group tours for outbound travelers have been extended to more countries such as the US, UK and Australia.
