China Airlines and Southwest Launch First Transpacific Partnership
China Airlines has launched a historic interline partnership with Southwest Airlines, offering seamless transpacific connections to more than 100 U.S. cities.
Seamless Travel Across Asia and the United States
Interline tickets are now available for travel starting January 19, 2026, streamlining transfers between China Airlines and Southwest Airlines flights. Travellers can book single-itinerary tickets, enjoy through check-ins, and benefit from baggage transfers across an extensive joint network.
China Airlines serves Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, Seattle, and Phoenix, connecting passengers to major U.S. cities like Chicago and Dallas.
Strategic Partnership Strengthening Taiwan-U.S. Air Travel
On August 20, leaders from both airlines signed a memorandum of understanding at Southwest Airlines’ Dallas headquarters. This agreement marks Southwest Airlines’ first strategic alliance with an Asian carrier, reinforcing China Airlines’ expansion strategy in North America.
Both airlines confirmed that interline services are just the beginning of deeper collaboration in loyalty programs, code-sharing, and co-branding.
Expanding North American Presence
China Airlines plans to operate more than 40 weekly flights between Taiwan, the United States, and Canada. Destinations will include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Ontario, Phoenix, and Vancouver, offering broad access to North American gateways.
These services integrate with nearly 500 regional flights each week, boosting connections between Asia, North America, and beyond.
Future Plans for Synergies and Growth
China Airlines and Southwest Airlines aim to develop mutual frequent flyer rewards, shared codes, and potential co-branded services. This partnership is expected to create more diversified services, strengthen transpacific cooperation, and deliver greater value for global travellers.
