Cebu Pacific is set to increase Melbourne flights to and from Philippines capital Manila later this year.
The Melbourne-Manila service currently operates three times a week and will increase it to four flights a week from December.
Cebu Pacific flies the route on A330-900neo jets.
This takes Philippines capacity above pre-pandemic levels for the first time.
Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos said: “Since the pandemic we’ve seen Southeast Asia emerge as one of our best performing markets, with three of the four fastest growth countries coming from that region.”
“The Philippines has seen a 43% per cent growth in passengers since the pandemic.”
Other ASEAN markets on the rise are Vietnam and Thailand with 60% and 25% growth respectively.
“Since resuming Melbourne flights in March last year, Cebu Pacific has seen strong two-way demand underpinned by international students, trade and tourism.”
