Cathay Pacific Doubles Perth Flights, Adding 43,000 Seats and Boosting WA Tourism
Double Daily Flights Begin October 2025
Cathay Pacific will fly twice daily between Hong Kong and Perth starting October 2025. The new schedule adds over 43,000 inbound seats annually into Western Australia.
This marks a 40% increase in capacity compared to pre-COVID levels in 2019. Perth now joins Brisbane in receiving 14 weekly Cathay Pacific flights.
A Boost for Tourism and Trade in Western Australia
The additional flights bring Cathay’s total WA seat capacity to more than 200,000 per year. Tourism WA and the Cook Government support the expanded route alongside Perth Airport.
Greater China remains WA’s largest international visitor market by spend, totalling $388 million in 2024. Cathay Pacific’s flights also support key transit markets like the UK, US, and Japan.
55 Years of Service Between Perth and Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific will celebrate 55 years of flights to Perth in 2025. Western Australia was the airline’s first Australian destination more than five decades ago.
The airline uses Airbus A350-900 aircraft for its Perth–Hong Kong route. Cathay’s expansion strengthens long-standing ties with WA’s tourism and aviation sectors.
A Key Gateway for Global Travel and Exports
The new services support WA’s business travel, tourism, international education, and export sectors.
Perth Airport highlights Cathay’s role in providing global cargo capacity via Hong Kong. The route helps connect WA to China, North Asia, Europe, and North America.
Cathay now operates over 80 weekly flights across Australia, including seasonal services from Adelaide and Cairns. Cathay Pacific has reached 100 global destinations as part of its network growth.
The airline says every added flight enhances opportunities for travellers and exporters alike. The Perth expansion reflects growing demand and Cathay’s long-term commitment to Western Australia.
