July was another forgettable month for airline punctuality.

Cirium’s Global On-Time Performance Report shows cancelled flights within Europe were up by over a third (35%) in July compared to a month earlier.

In North America, it was much worse with flight cancellations up by a massive 98%.

These numbers on both continents were partly due to the CrowdStrike Microsoft IT outage which heavily impacted flight operations on both sides of the Atlantic.

The ongoing meltdown to Delta Air Lines for the following several days heavily affected the overall performance for North America.

Iberia Express remained the most punctual airline in Europe with 79.79% of flights arriving on-time.

Icelandair followed closely in second, with 79.13% of all flights arriving on-time.

Yet again, no UK airline featured in the top 10 for punctuality.

In July 10,976 flights were cancelled within Europe.

Globally, Saudia retains its top position as the global leader in July, with 88.15% of flights arriving at on time.

A total of 23,393 flights were cancelled within North America last month.

Cirium defines an on-time flight as one that arrives within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time.
