British Airways restarts flights from Stansted

British Airways has resumed services from London Stansted for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UK airline’s BA CityFlyer subsidiary is now operating twice weekly flights from Stansted to Florence, Ibiza and Nice using Embraer 190 aircraft. The first flights departed on Sunday (19 May).

The move means that BA, which announced plans to return to Stansted in December, will now operate from four London airports. The carrier already flies from its main hub at Heathrow, as well as Gatwick and London City airports.

Ciaran Brannigan, Stansted’s commercial director, said: “London Stansted serves more European destinations than any other UK airport and these new services to Ibiza, Florence and Nice are strong additions to our route network, which now covers over 200 destinations across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

“I’m sure these routes will be very popular with passengers from across London, Cambridge and the growing East of England region. We look forward to working closely with British Airways to build a strong working relationship and ensure these new flights are a success.”

BA has already announced plans to add a fourth route from Stansted to Split in Croatia starting in September.
