British Airways Expands India Network During UK Trade Mission
Strengthening UK-India Ties
British Airways has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding flights between the UK and India during Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s trade mission. The airline plans to launch a third daily London Heathrow to Delhi service in 2026, pending regulatory and capacity approvals.
This expansion underscores growing trade and travel demand following the newly signed Free Trade Agreement between the UK and India. Around 130 UK business leaders and ministers joined the landmark mission, flying to Mumbai on a chartered British Airways aircraft.
Renewed Premium Offerings
British Airways will reintroduce its popular First cabin on London – Mumbai flights this month, enhancing comfort for premium travellers. By late 2026, the modern Club Suite will feature across all five Indian routes, offering privacy and cutting-edge design.
The upgrades reflect the airline’s goal to provide consistent premium experiences as it strengthens its South Asia network.
A Legacy of Connection
British Airways has operated flights to India for over 100 years and now runs 56 direct services weekly. This month also marks twenty years of continuous flights to Bangalore, a significant milestone for the airline’s India operations.
Sean Doyle, British Airways Chairman and CEO, emphasised “The airline’s role in facilitating economic growth between the UK and India.” He said “The Free Trade Agreement will enhance connectivity and opportunities, supporting increased trade and travel demand.”
Investing in Customer Experience
British Airways introduced a free Meet and Assist service for customers needing extra support when travelling from India to the UK. Since March, more than 5,500 travellers have benefited from this service, offered across all five Indian airports.
Trained colleagues fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, and Tamil help ensure seamless journeys for passengers requiring additional care. The airline continues investing through a £7 billion transformation plan, improving cabins, lounges, and technology across its global network.
Initiatives include upgraded short-haul seating, refreshed lounges, and complimentary Wi-Fi messaging on board for a smoother travel experience.
