Bula Blue Marine Travel
It is officially time to celebrate as we take on this exciting new adventure.
We have opened our third office, and the serene location this time is in Suva, Fiji. With our head office based in the UK, our second office in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand we thought it fitting to have our third one based in the soft corral capital of the world.
The official opening started with a ceremonial Fijian blessing and sharing Kava. A cup of kava is served first to the most senior person among the group of visitors, and then offered to each one in the circle using a communal cup made from a coconut shell. Before you downed the cup, you must clap once and yell “bula!”, and then clap three more times. The literal meaning of “bula” is “life,” and when used as a greeting it implies good wishes for continued good health. Kava is also a symbol of bringing people together.

We were then adorned with a Salusalu (pronounced as sar-loo-sar-loo), a Fijian garland by our new team. A Salusalu can be described as a necklace of flowers woven together by strands and is used in traditional ceremonies. After the official celebrations we tucked into some divine Fijian delicacies like Bila (vermented cassava), Vakalavalava (grated and steamed cassava with plantain), Ivi Koko (grated chestnut), Vakalolo and a Blue Marine Fruitcake.

Our new office welcomed six experienced travel consultants and this office will form part of our New Zealand office. We further have two of our experienced UK staff in Fiji for the time being to assist the new consultants, and training them in the Blue Marine Travel way, which includes exceptional service, multiple currency payment options and attention to detail.
