Bali’s Badung Regency Plans Fast Boat Link from Airport to Canggu
Introducing a Scenic, Traffic-Free Route for Tourists
The Badung Regency Government plans a fast boat route connecting Ngurah Rai Airport directly to Canggu’s popular beaches. This new water link aims to bypass Bali’s notorious traffic jams, providing faster, more scenic access for visitors.
The initiative is part of a wider effort to launch multiple water taxi services across Bali within the next year.
Tackling Traffic Congestion with Innovative Water Transport
Badung Regent Wayan Adi Arnawa says “Building more roads won’t solve Canggu’s traffic problems anymore.” He explained that public transportation networks, including sea taxis, will form a critical part of future traffic solutions.
The airport-to-Canggu boat service will offer tourists an affordable, comfortable, and time-saving travel alternative. If successful, similar routes could connect other tourist hotspots like Uluwatu and Nusa Penida in coming years.
Expanding Bali’s Water Taxi Network and Infrastructure
Badung authorities are working with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry to develop new piers and upgrade coastal infrastructure. A launch date for the airport-to-Canggu service is likely set for early 2026, pending final preparations and approvals.
New water taxi routes like Benoa to Tanjung Benoa already reduce travel time dramatically, improving connectivity between resorts. Fast boat services such as Denpasar to Banyuwangi further enhance regional mobility, benefiting tourists and commuters alike.
Bali’s growing water transport network promises smoother, greener, and more enjoyable travel experiences for locals and visitors across the island.
