Alaska Airlines Expands Flights Across Key U.S. Hubs

New routes, more frequencies, and broader connections highlight Alaska’s 2026 network growth.

San Diego: Alaska’s Fastest-Growing Hub

Alaska Airlines is taking off in San Diego with record-breaking growth. By spring 2026, the airline will expand more than 35% compared to spring 2025.

Five new nonstop routes will launch: Dallas-Fort Worth, Oakland, Raleigh-Durham, Santa Barbara, and Tulsa. With these additions, Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines will serve the top 15 most popular markets nonstop from San Diego.

Travellers from Santa Barbara can now connect seamlessly through San Diego to destinations like Boston and Honolulu. The San Diego–Santa Rosa-Sonoma route will grow to three daily flights, offering more flexible travel options.

Portland: Stronger Connections from the Rose City

Alaska is deepening its roots in Portland after a successful summer expansion. Starting in May, the airline will fly to Baltimore, Idaho Falls, Philadelphia, and St. Louis.

These additions bring Portland’s total to 62 nonstop destinations. Alaska is also adding a second daily flight to Newark and making Līhu‘e (Kaua‘i) service year-round. Daily flights to Santa Rosa-Sonoma will also increase to three.

Hawai‘i: Strengthening Island Connections

Alaska Airlines remains committed to connecting the islands. It serves more airports from California to Hawai‘i than any other airline.

A new summer seasonal route will link Honolulu and Hollywood Burbank Airport, reconnecting the two for the first time in over 20 years. From spring 2026, Los Angeles–Kahului (Maui) will offer two daily nonstops plus a seasonal flight. Meanwhile, San Francisco–Kona and San Francisco–Līhu‘e will become daily flights in June.

By early summer, Alaska will fly daily to all four Hawaiian Islands from San Francisco, matching service from Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, and Seattle.

Santa Rosa-Sonoma: Gateway to Wine Country

Santa Rosa-Sonoma remains a cornerstone of Alaska’s California network. The airline is the airport’s number one carrier, offering twice as many destinations as any competitor.

Alaska will add a new intra-California route between Santa Rosa-Sonoma and Ontario, near Los Angeles. This joins expanded flights to Portland and San Diego, plus seasonal service to Palm Springs beginning October 26. In total, Alaska will now serve six California cities from Santa Rosa-Sonoma.

A Network Built for 2026 and Beyond

Alaska Airlines’ 2026 network refresh introduces 13 new nonstop routes and boosts frequencies across major hubs. Much of the growth centers on San Diego, Portland, and Seattle, with Tulsa, Oklahoma, joining the network and Arcata-Eureka, California, returning after 15 years.

These expansions strengthen Alaska’s position as a leader in West Coast connectivity, offering travellers more destinations, more flexibility, and more ways to explore.
