The Only Non-Stop Route Connecting the Two Capitals
Air Canada has officially relaunched its direct flights between London Heathrow and Ottawa, marking a significant boost for business and leisure travelers. This is the only non-stop flight connecting the two capital cities, offering a convenient and efficient travel option.
Flight Schedule and Aircraft Details
The flights will operate four times per week throughout the summer season, departing London every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoon. The journey takes approximately seven hours, providing a seamless connection between the United Kingdom and Canada’s National Capital Region.
Passengers will travel on Air Canada’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, known for its comfort and modern amenities. The aircraft features lie-flat seats in Business Class, a spacious Premium Economy cabin, and a range of in-flight entertainment options to enhance the travel experience.
“We are thrilled to resume our Ottawa transatlantic service,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s Executive Vice President, Revenue & Network Planning. “This route plays a crucial role in supporting international business, corporate travel, and tourism. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard.”
Ottawa is a city rich in history and culture, offering visitors a mix of stunning architecture, green spaces, and renowned events. The Canadian Parliament Buildings are a must-see, while the Rideau Canal—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—offers breathtaking views year-round. Travelers arriving in May can also experience the Canadian Tulip Festival, the largest of its kind in the world.
Expanded Connectivity Across Canada
This summer, Air Canada will offer up to 63 weekly flights between London Heathrow and various Canadian destinations. In addition to Ottawa, direct flights are available to Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, ensuring extensive connectivity across Canada.
A special event in Ottawa celebrated the resumption of this important transatlantic route. Airline representatives, government officials, and key stakeholders gathered to mark the departure of AC888 from Ottawa to London Heathrow.
“Strengthening our global connections is more important than ever,” said The Honorable Stan Cho, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming. “Air Canada’s revival of direct flights between London and Ottawa reinforces our ties with a valued international partner. This route opens new opportunities for travelers to explore Ontario’s world-class tourism, rich culture, and dynamic attractions.”
With London Heathrow serving as a major international gateway, Air Canada’s direct flights offer travelers seamless onward connections to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, and beyond. The relaunched service is expected to boost both leisure and corporate travel while strengthening ties between the UK and Canada.
