Southwest Airlines and Philippine Airlines Partner to Expand Pacific Connections
Southwest Airlines has announced a new partnership with Philippine Airlines (PAL), expanding travel options for passengers across the Pacific.
The collaboration allows seamless connections between PAL’s international network and Southwest’s extensive U.S. domestic routes. Travellers can now book single-ticket itineraries through Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and Honolulu for smoother travel experiences.
More Destinations, Greater Flexibility
Philippine Airlines operates flights across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and North America. Through this partnership, passengers can easily connect from PAL’s long-haul services to Southwest’s U.S. destinations.
Southwest operates nearly 90 flights a day touching the Hawaiian Islands, offering excellent connectivity for transpacific travellers. As California’s largest air carrier, Southwest strengthens Philippine Airlines’ access to key American cities.
This partnership opens dozens of new one-stop travel options between Asia and North America.
Leaders Highlight the Benefits
Southwest Chief Operating Officer Andrew Watterson said the partnership extends each airline’s reach and enhances customer choice. He added that Southwest’s strong presence in Hawaii and California makes it ideal for serving PAL’s connecting passengers.
Philippine Airlines Vice President Christoph Gaertner said the agreement expands PAL’s global reach and adds flexibility for travellers. He noted that guests can now enjoy easier access to a wider range of U.S. destinations through seamless interline connections.
Expanding Southwest’s Global Network
Southwest now partners with four overseas carriers, including EVA Air, China Airlines, and Icelandair. The airline continues to explore additional international partnerships to broaden its global connectivity.
Beginning January 27, 2026, Southwest will also introduce a redesigned cabin and offer assigned and extra-legroom seating. These initiatives aim to improve comfort, increase travel options, and deliver a better overall flying experience for passengers worldwide.
