The airline blends British style with local influences in two stunning new lounges, redefining its premium experience worldwide.
A New Era of British Airways Lounges
British Airways launched its bold new lounge design concept with openings in Miami and Dubai International Airports this week. The airline worked with Gensler to blend British elegance with each destination’s distinct culture, architecture, and local character beautifully.
These openings mark a key milestone in British Airways’ £7 billion transformation plan to enhance global travel experiences for customers. Calum Laming said “The lounges were designed for travellers to relax, dine, work, and enjoy world-class British hospitality.”
The design establishes a unified architectural identity connecting British Airways lounges worldwide through consistent, welcoming, and restorative environments. Every detail reflects the airline’s heritage and hospitality while embracing modern travel needs with style, comfort, and thoughtful touches.
Miami Lounge: Britain Meets Art Deco Glamour
British Airways opened its first dedicated Miami lounge in decades, located above Terminal E’s departure gates, spanning 13,000 square feet. The Miami lounge draws inspiration from the city’s Art Deco architecture, iconic skyline, and relaxed coastal energy throughout its design.
Panoramic windows fill the lounge with sunlight and offer sweeping airfield views, creating a bright and uplifting atmosphere. A full-service bar stands as the central feature, serving classic cocktails, mocktails, and local Miami-inspired beverages daily.
The dining area offers locally sourced dishes with a British twist, such as seared South Florida flounder and papaya salad. The exclusive Concorde Dining Room offers à la carte service with Wagyu beef, scallops, and English sparkling wines.
Two shower suites and colourful restrooms inspired by Miami deck chairs allow travellers to refresh in playful comfort.
Dubai Lounge: British Elegance with Middle Eastern Charm
The Dubai lounge spans 5,800 square feet and blends contemporary British design with the United Arab Emirates’ architectural elegance. Sweeping arches, fretwork details, and mirrored panels reflect Middle Eastern artistry while creating a calm and sophisticated environment.
A grand chandelier framed by mirrored ceilings forms the lounge’s signature “look-up” moment, celebrating British Airways’ iconic speedmarque. Guests can enjoy Arabic breakfast, mezze platters, and British classics, paired with cocktails like the Dubai Chocolate Martini.
Geometric tiles, fluted marble, and British fabrics add character and warmth while balancing tradition with modern sophistication. The Concorde Dining Room offers personalised à la carte service, featuring Arabic mezze, Umm Ali, and the Concorde Wagyu burger.
Ashley Dowell from Gensler said the design merges British heritage with each location’s vibrancy, creating inviting, intuitive global retreats.
Setting a New Global Standard
Miami and Dubai mark the start of British Airways’ new lounge era, redefining travel comfort, connection, and cultural inspiration. These openings follow recent upgrades in Gatwick, Lagos, Singapore, Seattle, and Washington Dulles, strengthening the airline’s global presence.
British Airways continues elevating the travel experience through world-class lounges that celebrate heritage, innovation, and authentic cultural expression worldwide.
