SAS Deepens Commercial Partnership with Virgin Atlantic
Greater Access to Global Destinations
Scandinavian Airlines has expanded its partnership with Virgin Atlantic, giving SAS customers greater access to key long-haul destinations worldwide. Under the new agreement, SAS will place its SK code on selected Virgin Atlantic flights departing from London Heathrow Airport.
This collaboration allows SAS passengers to enjoy seamless connections to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Dubai, and Malé in the Maldives. Customers can now book these new codeshare flights, ensuring a smoother and more convenient travel experience overall.
Additional destinations will soon be added, further strengthening connectivity between Scandinavia and Virgin Atlantic’s extensive international network.
Leaders Welcome the Strengthened Partnership
Paul Verhagen, SAS Chief Commercial Officer, said “The partnership enhances travel options for both business and leisure passengers across multiple regions.” He added that “The collaboration simplifies connections through Heathrow, offering passengers smoother transfers and consistent service quality between airlines.”
Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen, said “The expansion highlights their strong commitment to the SkyTeam alliance.” He noted that “Passengers can now connect effortlessly through Heathrow while enjoying Virgin Atlantic’s premium customer experience and renowned hospitality.”
Expanding SkyTeam Cooperation
The airlines first launched a bilateral codeshare agreement in October 2024, marking a successful partnership within the SkyTeam network. The new codeshare routes officially opened for booking on October 6, with travel available from October 8 onward.
SAS, the national airline of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, operates its main hub in Copenhagen with additional hubs in Oslo and Stockholm. This strengthened alliance with Virgin Atlantic boosts SAS’s global reach and provides passengers with more travel choices than ever before.
