Air Canada and ITA Airways Strengthen Partnership with Major Codeshare Agreement
New collaboration expands travel options between Canada, Italy, and beyond
Seamless Connectivity Across Continents
Air Canada and ITA Airways have announced a key milestone in their growing partnership through a new codeshare agreement. This agreement improves travel between Canada, Italy, and other international destinations with more than 30 one-stop options available.
Air Canada will place its code on 10 ITA-operated routes beyond Rome, reaching cities in Italy, Africa, and the Middle East. ITA Airways will add its code to 10 Air Canada routes beyond Toronto, connecting travellers across Canada and the United States.
Enhancing the Traveller Experience
This strategic partnership provides smoother transfers for leisure and business travellers heading to and from Italy. ITA Airways CEO Joerg Eberhart highlighted “Improved access for North America’s Italian diaspora travelling to Italy and beyond.”
Air Canada EVP Mark Galardo emphasised “The value of offering seamless travel through aligned schedules and shared route networks.”
The codeshare agreement comes as ITA Airways prepares to join Star Alliance in early 2026, further strengthening ties. The airlines also plan to enable mutual earning and redemption between their loyalty programs, rewarding frequent flyers.
Expanding Summer Networks
This summer, Air Canada is operating 39 weekly flights and over 13,000 seats to Italian destinations, including new service to Naples. Other non-stop routes include Rome, Milan, and Venice, complemented by high-speed Trenitalia train connections to 30 more destinations.
Meanwhile, ITA Airways is flying to 59 year-round destinations and 12 seasonal hotspots, including the Balearic and Greek Islands. The airline has also expanded its global reach through codeshare deals with Lufthansa Group carriers.
Together, these efforts position Air Canada and ITA Airways as a powerful transatlantic travel alliance for years to come.
