Cathay Pacific Boosts Daily Flights, Johannesburg – Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific Boosts Connectivity with Daily Flights Between Johannesburg and Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific is expanding its service between Johannesburg and Hong Kong, offering daily flights starting 1 July 2025.

More Flights, Greater Flexibility

Cathay Pacific will operate daily return flights, up from five per week. The route connects OR Tambo International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.

Flights will be serviced by the Airbus A350-900, a modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. Cabins include flatbed Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy seating.

Seamless Connections Across Asia-Pacific

Travelers can easily connect to destinations across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand via Hong Kong.

Popular onward cities include Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney, Auckland, and cities in the Chinese Mainland.

The route also supports travel into the Greater Bay Area, a key economic hub.

Meeting Growing Travel Demand

The increase follows the route’s relaunch in August 2023 after a pandemic-related pause. Rakesh Raicar, Cathay’s Regional GM, says the move reflects strong demand from South African travelers.

The airline aims to offer greater flexibility for both business and leisure passengers.

Cargo Capacity Also Gets a Lift

More flights mean more cargo belly space, supporting South Africa’s growing export needs. Cathay Cargo can now move perishables, mail, and time-sensitive shipments more efficiently and consistently.

A Commitment to Quality and Innovation

Cathay Pacific has invested over HK$100 billion in its fleet, lounges, and digital tools. The airline plans to reach 100 global passenger destinations in the first half of the year.

Passengers enjoy award-winning inflight entertainment, elevated menus, and the airline’s renowned service.

Daily flights offer more convenience, better connections, and enhanced service for South Africans flying to Asia and beyond.
