Air New Zealand Unveils World-First Fully Retrofitted 787-9 Dreamliner Cabin Experience
Air New Zealand is ushering in a new era of travel with the launch of its completely redesigned Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner cabin experience — the first full nose-to-tail retrofit of its kind in the world. From 7 May, customers will be able to book flights aboard this next-generation aircraft, which will take to the skies on 19 May with its first routes between Auckland and Brisbane, followed by a long-haul service to San Francisco later that evening.
After 184 days in Singapore, the aircraft — tail number ZK-NZH — returns with an elegant, future-forward cabin that reflects years of research, design, and customer feedback. According to Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran, “This is the first major onboard product update we’ve delivered in more than 15 years, and every detail is a celebration of Aotearoa – from the materials you touch to the way you relax onboard.”
By the end of 2026, all 14 of the airline’s 787-9 Dreamliners will feature the new layout. In the meantime, the second aircraft is already in Singapore for its retrofit, with seven scheduled to be completed by year-end.
Where You’ll Fly First
The new cabin will debut on routes between Auckland and Brisbane, San Francisco, Rarotonga, and Vancouver. More destinations will be added as additional aircraft are upgraded.
