British Airways is reaching further into Asia with the launch of two new routes —Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Tbilisi, Georgia—marking a bold step in expanding its global network.
For the first time in half a decade, British Airways has returned to the vibrant capital of Kuala Lumpur. The inaugural flight from London Heathrow landed earlier this month, with passengers receiving a warm Malaysian welcome, complete with goodie bags and special gifts on arrival.
The route will now run daily, serviced by the airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-900 aircraft. Travellers can choose from four cabins:
- World Traveller (economy)
- World Traveller Plus (premium economy)
- Club World (business class)
- First (first class)
As part of this expansion, British Airways has also enhanced its codeshare partnership with Malaysia Airlines, offering seamless onward connections to 17+ destinations, including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. These can be booked under a single ticket, making long-haul travel smoother than ever.
Tbilisi Returns to the Network
Also making a comeback is the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, returning to British Airways’ route map after more than a decade. Flights begin in March 2025, connecting London to this historic city nestled at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
Travellers can explore everything from ancient ruins to Soviet-era architecture, ornate cathedrals, and relaxing bathhouses. The route forms part of BA’s short-haul network, offering two cabin options: Euro Traveller (economy) and Club Europe (business class).
Boost to Tokyo and New Summer Routes
In addition to these exciting launches, British Airways is increasing flights to Tokyo Haneda, now offering twice-daily services to Japan. With flights operated by the Airbus A350 and increased capacity ahead of summer, it’s a major win for business and leisure travellers alike.
Looking ahead, British Airways will also debut new routes to Rimini and Salerno in Italy from May 2025, adding even more European flavour to its summer schedule.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, summed it up:
“We’re delighted to welcome Malaysia and Georgia back to our network, both of which are key destinations our customers know and love.”
With more frequency, more destinations, and more ways to connect, British Airways is making it easier than ever to travel across Asia and beyond.
