Fiji Airways has officially become the newest full member of the oneworld alliance, marking a major milestone for the airline. As of April 1, 2025, customers will enjoy seamless travel benefits across the oneworld network, including priority services, lounge access, and expanded connectivity.
Strengthening the American Airlines Partnership
Alongside its oneworld membership, Fiji Airways has joined the American Airlines AAdvantage® program. This means that AAdvantage members flying on Fiji Airways can now earn and redeem miles while enjoying elite perks such as priority check-in, boarding, baggage allowances, and more.
Anmol Bhargava, American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Alliances, welcomed the move:
“The partnership between American and Fiji Airways is giving customers more ways to unlock new travel experiences. We extend a very warm welcome to Fiji Airways customers joining the AAdvantage® program.”
Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen echoed this sentiment:
“We are delighted to join the AAdvantage® program, marking a new chapter for Fiji Airways and offering more opportunities for our loyal customers.”
What oneworld Membership Means for Travelers
As a full member of the oneworld alliance, Fiji Airways now offers top-tier customers a range of benefits, including:
- Access to nearly 700 airport lounges worldwide
- Priority check-in and boarding
- Earning and redeeming miles across oneworld carriers
- Tier Points accumulation for elite status
Oneworld CEO Nat Pieper highlighted the significance of this expansion:
“The introduction of Fiji Airways marks an important strategic step for our alliance as we connect even more people, places, and experiences than ever before.”
Expanding Global Reach
Fiji Airways, based at Nadi International Airport, now connects 25 destinations across 14 countries. This includes key oneworld hubs such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, and its newest North American destination, Dallas-Fort Worth.
Since its first flight on September 1, 1951, Fiji Airways has built a strong reputation for quality service. Its fleet of 23 state-of-the-art aircraft, including A350-900s, provides passengers with world-class comfort and authentic Fijian hospitality.
The airline continues to earn top industry accolades, such as a Five Star Major Airline rating from APEX and multiple Skytrax 2024 awards, including Best Airline, Best Business Class Onboard Catering, and Best Cabin Crew in Australia/Pacific.
The Future of Fiji Airways
As Fiji Airways integrates into the oneworld alliance, its subsidiary, Fiji Link, joins as an affiliate airline. This extends the alliance’s reach with domestic services across Fiji and regional flights to Tonga, Samoa, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
With expanded global connectivity, enhanced travel benefits, and a commitment to top-tier service, Fiji Airways is poised for a bright future within the oneworld family. Travelers can now experience seamless, rewarding, and comfortable journeys like never before.
