American Airlines Launches Security Bypass at London Heathrow

One Stop Security (OSS) Initiative

American Airlines has introduced a new security bypass program for connecting passengers at London Heathrow Airport. The One Stop Security (OSS) program aims to streamline the travel experience by eliminating the need for additional security checks and baggage re-screening.

Since February 4, 2025, eligible travelers flying from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to London Heathrow (LHR) can proceed directly to their connecting gates without a second security screening. This improvement enhances the airport experience at one of the world’s busiest hubs.

Partnership Between the U.S. and UK Authorities

The OSS program is a joint effort between American Airlines, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the UK Department for Transport (DfT). The initiative aims to simplify international air travel and improve passenger convenience.

American Airlines’ Chief Government Affairs Officer, Nate Gatten, emphasised the program’s significance.

“American Airlines is thrilled to be working with the U.S. and UK governments to roll out a first-of-its-kind security agreement. This partnership simplifies international air travel for our customers. We look forward to opportunities to expand it to more airports, including from LHR to DFW, in the future,” Gatten stated.

Future Expansion and Eligibility

Currently, the OSS program applies to flights from DFW to LHR. The initiative may extend to more routes based on its success. Similar benefits are available for Delta Air Lines, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic passengers connecting through Heathrow’s Terminals 3 or 5.

American Airlines advises passengers to check their eligibility before travel. The airline’s participation in the Oneworld Alliance ensures smoother connections for travelers flying with partner carriers.

This initiative follows American Airlines’ recent boarding technology enhancements. The airline continues to explore new ways to improve passenger convenience and efficiency across its network.
